I agree that there are a number of issues Alex Salmond and the Scottish Government haven’t fully addressed, leaving a lot of people with questions. As I wrote in my last email, I’ve been holding a number of public meetings across East Dunbartonshire, where a number of people have raised the uncertainties over the currency and the EU. The UK Government has consistently said that a currency union would not be in the interest of the rest of the UK, and various European leaders have explained that Scotland would need to apply for its own membership of the EU, a process which could take longer than the 18 months between the referendum and the proposed day of independence in March 2016.
