Retirees of Odua Investment decry non-payment of pension The retired staff of Odua Printing Limited, a subsidiary of Odua Investment Limited, has decried the non-payment of their pension and, therefore, appealing to the company to “save them from dying in suffering.” The retirees made the plea to journalists on Sunday while appealing that the pressmen help them to tell members of the public their travail over non-payment of their pensions, years after their retirement. According to the spokesman of the pensioners, Simeon Taiwo, the retirees were 17 in number, saying while five have died, some of them who are still living are seriously incapacitated due to lack of money owing to non-payment of their pensions. They said since 2008, the company was able to pay them only N1.8 million as an entitlement to settle them for life. “The highest receiver from the money got about N100, 000, which is meagre after spending all their lives with the company. “This prompted us to hire a lawyer, who went with us to the company to beg for more in which they had meeting with the Resource Manager, Mr. Abimbola Ilori, on February 18, 2014”, he said. “What we heard from him gave us hope that the company will do something urgent about the matter, but to our astonishment, the man has been avoiding us by not making himself available or picking our calls”, he added.
