Retiring ages vary from countries to countries. My experiences - TopicsExpress

Retiring ages vary from countries to countries. My experiences show that employees enter a retiring age bracket when they are 50-55 years old. While Vietnam has a young population, Japan has an aging population. Some countries in Asia, e.g., Malaysia, are revising the retiring age from 55 to 60. This policy is implemented to probably address these imperatives: (1) pension funds need keep capital -- peopke money -- to help finance the country; (2) national talent scarcity - retirees have barrels of wisdom and they are precious workforce, (3) medical technology breakthrough & healthier nutrition make people live longer, (4) government can no longer financially support aging population, and (5) actuarial scientists come up with a new model to better forecast our life longevity. In summary, to me age is just a number. Retiring early, going to work or dying in our office is a choice. I have seen 40-year-old frustrated deadwoods; 60-year-old energetic, stellar performers in large corporations and .... an 80+ inspiring leader!!
