Retro Song of the Day: Winner of the all-round worst performance, staging, hair-dos, lip-synching and outfits. This One-hit wonder (no wonder) featured a female drummer, Honey Lantree, a beauticians assistant during the day (hence, the Honey Combs) who later won a Tootsie look-alike contest. Note that none of the instruments are plugged in and the sweaty bass player doesnt know the words, then theres the rhythm guitar player--a cross between Jerry Lewis and Austin Powers. They were part of the Tottenham Sound. BTW, The drums pounding beat was enhanced by making the members of the group stamp their feet on the wooden stairs to the studio and recorded with 5 microphones fixed to the banisters with bicycle clips.
