Returning to Shambhala after being away for five long years was incredible. It felt like I never left. Thousands of individuals from around the world each with their own unique stories transform into a amazing community connected by art, nature, and respect for each other. Time stops as we celebrate our creativity, our love for one another, and the music. For me, there is nothing in the entire world will ever compare to being woken to the sound of music in the distance, and knowing that all around you are the amazing people you consider to be your true family. There are so many experiences that I will never forget, both big and small: Overhearing random snippets of conversation, making small talk while waiting for the bathroom, discovering new music because I got lost, losing my mind only to find it later, gaining new perspectives, challenging fundamental ideas I had about the world, sharing stories all night, the feeling of anticipation when I heard the cheer getting closer, thousands dancefloor moments, feeling the bass vibrate every atom of your body, bumping into people I had met travelling, sharing smokes while the sun rises, blowing a gardens worth of dirt out my nose each morning, diving into the water and being dried off by the sun, getting inspired, not knowing the time, and becoming more content as the week passed by. At Shambhala we are free to be ourselves and to transform into the people we are meant to be. I already knew what I wanted to with my life, but after this week I learned from all of you the kind of person I want to become.
