Rheumatoid arthritis is a form of arthritis which is often confused for other forms of arthritis and health conditions. While the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis can be similar to the more common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, it is very different. This is because while osteoarthritis is cause by the wear and tear or trauma to the joints, rheumatoid arthritis is caused by a disease in the body. This disease causes the body to attack its own immune system. Eventually this disease will cause the body to deteriorate the body’s own tissues. When this condition causes the deterioration of the lining of the joints and joint cartilage the result is rheumatoid arthritis. While there currently is no cure for this condition, there are several treatments available which help people to control and manage it. If these treatments are used early in the development of this condition it can drastically slow down the progression of the disease and further preserve a person’s quality of life.
