Rich Dauer to Os Hall: By Jordan Moore on March 30, 2012 10:38 AM USC baseball great Rich Dauer was elected to the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame for a big league career as an elite defensive infielder and World Series champion. Dauer2-Rockies.JPGDauer won two College World Series in two years at Troy playing under Rod Dedeaux in 1973 and 1974. He went on to play all 10 of his major league seasons for the Os. As a second baseman in 1978, he set AL single-season fielding records for 86 consecutive errorless games and 425 straight errorless chances. But just like at USC, he was known best as a winner helping the franchise reach the World Series in 1979 and win it all in 1983. When we first started, we were a family, Dauer told MLB. I grew up with some of these guys in the Minor Leagues and we played for 10 years in the big leagues [together]. That just doesnt happen anymore. Its part of my family, part of where I am today, I am very fortunate that I carried on in baseball and I am real proud, obviously, to be considered in this class of Baltimore Orioles. Dauer will join Stanfords Mike Mussina in the Orioles 2012 Hall of Fame class. He is now the Colorado Rockies third base coach (pictured).
