Richard Murray ran himself into fourth place at the ITU World Triathlon Series race in Hamburg on Saturday. Murray won this race last season. This time around he was beaten only by the Olympic podium of Jonathan Brownlee, Alastair Brownlee – World and Olympic champion respectively – and Javier Gomez. Murray started the run in outside the top 10, but with a run consistent with the pace of the top 3 he ran his way to fourth place. He ran the 5km in 14 minutes and 19 seconds. Jonathan Brownlee’s winning time was 51 minutes and 5 seconds. Murray finished in 51:42. Only the Brownlees had a faster running time than Murray and that is mere seconds.
