Right before we left on vacation, we discovered a mouse living among us in the walls. The cats were the ones who tipped us off by staring intently at certain hidey-hole spots at various times until we found the hard evidence (as it were). So we figured a week without any humans or dogs in the house to distract them, wed come home to a disgusting little dead mouse Christmas present waiting for us. Not seeing any, we assumed wed be smelling it out soon enough. Then this morning I saw our mama kitty chasing it across the den, which made me think to myself - Damn! Four cats, one mouse, one week, and they couldnt do the one job we task them with?! Useless balls of fur! Now we have to buy a trap (a humane live-capture trap, because while were okay with the cats doing the killing for us, we dont want to get our proverbial souls dirty by killing something ourselves) to try to take care of the problem.
