Right, here it is. pls no hate I tried Zeckthius stood in the small lean-to Imogen had made, and where they had remained for years, surviving, fighting the horde. He gazed at the crumbling walls, at the caved-in ceiling, the war-worn building. It wasnt much, but it meant a lot to him. It was where he and his closest friend Imogen had stayed. Tears pushed against his eyes. This would be the last time he saw this place. This would be the last time he saw his precious friend. He heard her light footsteps behind him, and clenched his jaw, staying calm. Her voice, so sweet and innocent, played in his ears. Zeck, I got us some food! It took a while to get, but its fresh, and I can cook! Th-Thats great..but.. But? You not hungry? Youre aaalways hungry. She giggled. Zeck pushed tears back, facing imogen. Imo...Im sorry...but...I cant stay here. I Youre...better off without me. She stayed silent, gazing at him in confusion. I..must be on my way, now. He picked up the small pack of necessary supplies at his feet, waiting for her to reply. It took a while, but she opened her mouth. So..youre....leaving me? Her face broke his heart, he couldnt bear to see it. He turned away. Lowering his head. Im just a burden to you, Imo. Youll be..better off this way. His steps crunched in the sand as he started to walk slowly. An almost silent, sniffing noise repeated behind him. He turned his head. Tears poured down he cheeks as she sobbed quietly. ~I..made her cry?...~ His thoughts rang. His gut clenched, and he turned. ssssssssSSSSS A hissing sound, like something cooking, sounded again. He turned. Her tears were like an acid, burning into her skin, leaving scars. So THATS where the odd scars under her eyes came from. He turned to her, holding his arms out. Her eyes opened, full of malice. She gazed up at him. You want to leave like everyone else did? FINE. Be my guest. The ebony black runes swirled around her, a sign that her darkness was coming out. It was a tad excessive, more than usual. She pointed at him, eyes glowing with hate. But once you step foot off these ground, youll be my enemy. Ill attack you like I do every mercenary. Runes and black fog curled around her, more than Zeck had ever seen. The air rippled with her loathing. Every man for himself. An electric, tingling pain went through Zecks head, and he knew he had to go. He turned, running., unsure of where he was going. He didnt look back once at he and Imos old home. And once again, he was alone. The last thing her heard from Imogen, was a pitiful cry echoing across the valley. JUST LET ME DIE! It has been three months since I left her. Im still alone. Ive been fine, travelling on my own..just a week ago, I ran into a small village. As friendly as they are, theyre very paranoid and religious. Today, theyre holding an execution, and Im invited to see it. The sun shining brightly behind the noose podium shined, rendering me unable to see the poor victim accused of witchcraft. The crowd chanted and cursed, excited to see the victim dead. I wanted to see, so I pushed through, getting near the podium. I looked up. The sun was hidden behind a cloud. She stands, proud and tall, a noose around her neck. New scars run under her eyes, filled with sand, and a bit of pus. Her hair has grown out on the shaved side. Still, she looks radiant. Her eyes open, gazing at me. A chill runs down my spine. The pupils have disapeared. They look cold, lifeless. A smile runs across her lips as she sees me. Zeck..you came to see me die too? She closes her eyes once again, tensing. This is what you always wanted, isnt it? For me to die? Well..congratulations. Youre getting what you wanted. The growling voice of the chief sounded behind Imogen, and she stood proud and tall, clenching her jaw. The crown silenced. We have come to a consensus. You will not die by the noose. Everyone gasped. You will die the worst possible death. Becoming one of them. Imogen smiles coldly at me as me blood runs cold. She told me she never wanted to become one of the horde. And now, her nightmare is coming true. The chamber where she was being held was cold and quiet, like death. How ironic, as she actually was dying. The door behind her opened. Who the hell was visiting her? She didnt bother to turn around, the shackles prevented her from doing so. Hey, Imo... GREAT. Juuust what I needed. Her thoughts were easy to read. The runes she knew how to summon began to dance around her. Calm down, Imogen. I wanted to apologize, for leaving without a reason... I just.. The shuffling of him sitting down next to her echoed in the chamber. I thought youd be better without me. I was just a burden to you. You have so much power, and I just wanted to leave for a while so you could control them..I never wanted this to happen. She remained silent, the shackles jingling as she adjusted her seating. It was almost time. Time for her to become a mindless freak. Time for her to become what she tried so hard to escape from. She stood, using the runes to block Zeck from the horde. As much as he broke her, he didnt deserve to die. He had potential to be a good leader. He stood there, obviously distressed. Her time was coming, and she didnt want him to be dragged down with her. She turned to him, eyes closed. ********* She faced death with closed eyes and a slight frown. I couldnt reach her, she raised some sort of force field so I couldnt reach her. I tried to choke back sobs as I stood there. I couldnt even choke out a word. Her eyes opened, and she gazed at me, all malice gone. Thanks you, Zeck..for everything. In that instant, he was reminded of the old frail Imogen ,the one he stayed with when they first escaped. Innocent, distressed, helpless. He was about to let the thing who meant the most to her die. He couldnt let her go. Black tenderils snaked around her. The horde buzzed from the outside. He focused, breaking through the runes with ease. Time slowed as her ran to her. The gazed at him, eyes pleading for help. The tendril pushed into her neck. Her skin turned grey, veins jumped from the injection. Her eyes grew cold, lifeless. It was hopeless. He was too late. He let her die. *Yuno
