Rise and fall of the super model In the early 1990s came the rise of the super model. The powers that be in the fashion industry at the time decided to create iconic models to market to promote their products. This idea was championed by the likes of the late Gianni Versace. There came the trio known as the trinity. Linda Evangelista from Canada, Naomi Campbell from the UK, and Christie Turlington from the USA. The arrival of the big six followed with 3 other models joining the trinity to become the big six in fashion. Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, nd Kate Moss joined the fray. The fall of the super model was as a result of some of these models punching above their weights. The infamous we dont get out our beds for less than 10,000 dollars a day comment by Linda Evangelista easily comes to mind. Such attitude caught the attention of the powers that be in the fashion industry and they decided to change the trend. The heavy weight fashion magazines started using film stars and sports personalities for their cover pages. The choice for a runway model shifted from a glamorous iconic personality to the down to earth simple eastern European looks. Who is your ideal model and why?
