I jumped right out of bed at the same time that the most frightening horribly monstrous completely evil creature thrashed underneath my blanket. I looked around for some form of protection, but all I saw were shadows creeping toward me, disguising themselves as piles of clothing or tennis shoes. In moments I was running for all I was worth, as the creature let loose evil floating things into the air. By this time everyone was awake and piling toward my room. “Daisy, what is wrong with you?” my mom yelled. “Arrhhh, ahhhh, uhhgghhh,” was all I could say.--krjordan 2013 My seven are: Jeff Gafford Astrid Barke JT Lewis Author Veronica Marie Lewis-Shaw Margaret Sarah Bechtel AJ Arias Elizabeth Anne Lance ♥ Here is my page 70 excerpt... “It’s not every day that we have a patient your age who isn’t too embarrassed to be examined in front of her dad,” the young nurse said with a smile. Gina forced herself to grin and shook her head, “He’s not my dad.” She looked over at me and saw my reaction to the young man’s comment, then added, “He’s my baby’s dad.” She rubbed her tummy. “Oh, uh…I’m sorry,” he stammered. “I shouldn’t make assumptions like that.” He turned to me and said, “I hope I didn’t offend you.” “Not at all,” I replied. “It’s an honest mistake.” I shrugged and added, “After all, I am old enough to be her dad.” “But you perform like a twenty-year-old,” Gina said with a wink. That remark had its intended effect: neither the RN nor I said another word. He was afraid of committing another faux pas, while I was just shocked silent. When he left I scolded her for lying to the nurse. “He’s a condescending jerk,” she waved off my admonition. “He had no way of knowing who you were; it pissed me off that he just assumed that you were my dad.” “Well, after all, Gina,” I interjected, “I look like your dad. It was a perfectly reasonable assumption.” I stopped and pointed at her, “And another thing: what got into you, saying I ‘perform like a twenty-year-old’? I—I couldn’t believe you said that!” Gina giggled like a little girl enjoying a practical joke. “That sure shut him up, didn’t it?” She lightened up a bit with this brief distraction. “It shut us both up!” “What, don’t you think you could attract a younger woman?” “Of course not.” “You’re not that old, Jimmy.” “Yes I am.” I held up my hands to keep her from arguing further. “It happens. It’s one of those things that you can’t avoid. I’m fine with it, really.” “So am I,” she nodded, smiling. “If I may interrupt the conversation long enough to do your examination,” the doctor cut in as she entered the room, “you two can share your feelings on the way home.” “I’ll be out in the waiting area,” I told Gina. “You don’t want to stay and watch?” she asked with false disappointment. “Honey, I wasn’t even in the delivery room when Jessie was born,” I replied. “Liar.” “All right, you got me there,” I conceded. “But I’m not hanging around on this one.” “Oh, all right,” she pouted. “Some baby-daddy you turned out to be.” “Now, don’t start that again…” “Out!’ the doctor barked. I didn’t need to be told twice. I don’t remember how long it was, but I remember very well the look on the nurse’s face as he walked over to where I was waiting and put his hand on my shoulder. There was something wrong.
