Roads and Maritime Services advises skippers to be on alert on Friday 08 August 2014 Conditions tomorrow are expected to exceed Fresh winds for the following locations: Batemans Coast Fresh winds Nearshore Forecast Friday New S groundswell 2 - 3ft+ south facing beaches, rising to 3 - 5ft during the day. Mixing with underlying ENE swell around 2ft elsewhere depending on exposure. WIND: Early light SSE tending light E to NE during the afternoon. Saturday S groundswell speculatively 4 - 5ft+ south facing breaks, fading during the afternoon. Grading to 2 - 5ft elsewhere with size dependent on exposure. WIND: NW 5 to 15 knots tending NE during the afternoon. Sunday Leftover SSE swell inconsistent 2 - 3ft south facing beaches early, fading during the afternoon. WIND: Early W 5 to 10 knots tending SSE during the day. Monday S windswell rising from 1 - 2ft south facing beaches early towards 2 - 3ft during the afternoon. WIND: SSW 15 to 20 knots tending SSE later. Marine Forecast Batemans Coast: Ulladulla to Montague Island Forecast for Friday 8 August. Winds: Southerly 10 to 15 knots becoming variable about 10 knots early in the morning then becoming north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day. Winds reaching up to 20 knots south of Moruya Heads in the evening. Seas: Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon. Swell: Southerly 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1.5 metres during the morning, then increasing to 1 to 2 metres during the afternoon. Forecast for Saturday 9 August. Winds: North to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending northwest to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots during the evening. Seas: Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore. Swell: Southerly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres offshore north of Moruya Heads. Caution: Deceptively powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
