Roads in bad shape in Jessore→ Zahid Hasan Biplob JESSORE: Over 200 kilometers roads in Monirampur upazila of Jessore district are in bad shape for long causing untold suffering to the passengers. According to sources, potholes and cracks have developed on the roads as it has long been lying uncared for. The roads become dangerous and deathtrap for the passengers in the rainy season. Locals allege though the roads have turned into deathtrap, the concerned authorities were seen indifference to take any steps. According to police records, a total of 26 people were killed and around hundred received serious injury in different accidents in the last four months. The LEGD sources said that 5 kilometer road from Pardia to Nengurhat, 7 kilometer from Fakirhat to Chaluahati, 21 kilometer from Monirampur to Muktapur, 15 kilometer from Rajganj to Khatura, 22 kilometer from Rajganj to Pulerhat, 14 kilometer from Khedapara to Monirampur, 5 kilometer from Komolpur to Jhapabazar, 12 kilometer from Kathaltola to Beltola, 15 kilometer from Rajganj to Trimohon, 12 kilometer from Shoila bazar to Keshabpur, 21 kilometer from Bhandaria to Monirampur, 12 kilometer from Rajganj to Monirampur, 25 kilometer from Rajganj degree college to Chanchra and 15 kilometer from Dodaria to Jhikargacha have turned unfit for traffic. Anwar Hossain, a wholesaler said big potholes have developed on the roads. The roads also become muddy after a shower of rain. All modes of vehicles including buses, trucks, rickshaw, auto-rickshaws, motorcycles and three-wheelers meet accidents as the roads go under knee-deep water during shower of rain. Women, elderly men and school-going children become the victim of these accidents.
