Robert J. Zarambo, 66, from Whitehall, Pennsylvania, finally ended - TopicsExpress

Robert J. Zarambo, 66, from Whitehall, Pennsylvania, finally ended his running streak after 13,911 consecutive days (38 years, 32 days) on 17 July 2014. Mr. Zarambo was tied for 10th place with Dr. Stephen Reed, of Wiscasset, Maine, for the longest active running streak in the country as listed by Streak Runners International (SRI) and the United States Running Streak Association (USRSA) when his streak ended. Both Mr. Zarambo and Dr. Reed started their running streaks on 16 June 1976. Mr. Zarambo now has the fourth longest retired running streak in the world, surpassing legendary streak runner Robert Ray (13,884 days), of Baltimore, Maryland, by just 27 days. I am sad to report that my running streak has ended, said Mr. Zarambo in a statement to SRI/USRSA. This is due to a herniated disc problem in my lower back causing lower back pain and numbness in my left leg. The last day of my running streak was July 17th, 2014. No regrets over my streak of just over 38 years. Good Luck to all the other Streakers. May the wind always be at your back.
