Roberts Rule of Order shuts down the indigenous/traditional voice. It is a tool used extensively by the Navajo Nation tribal government even at the grassroots level. I find it interesting to see it in the grassroots operation in particular as setup by states and national (invaders) gatekeepers. Dr. Susskind has been a great friend in helping me move along consensus building here in my community at the grassroots level. The challenge has been creating awareness or the acceptance that there are alternatives to parliamentary procedures and in fact the traditional methods of problem solving has a good record. Its time to reevaluate how we arrive at decision making in this light.
