Robin Williams death has created in me a different emotion than most the people I have spoken with about. Like Robin Williams, I too have struggled with depression and self medicating. Most of you that truly know me know this and have probably seen it first hand. Depression is a cruel and unpredictable sickness that will be your best friend and worst enemy. Sometimes at the same time. Depression has tried dragging me to an early grave several times and almost succeeded. I am extremely blessed and fortunate to still be alive and here. Many do not realize that depression takes many forms and feelings. Not just sadness and loneliness. I hope that if you know of someone, or see someone struggling with this that you will help if you can. The unpredictable approach that depression takes towards people is not only frightening to those that are suffering from it, but the collateral damage can ruin the strongest of faiths and families. By the grace and glory of God I get to still be here and share this story. Depression is a very real and very serious thing folks, but with the right people as well as the support of others and self we can all work together for a better brighter future!
