Robinson launches future vision of Belfast. Belfast City Council’s City Centre Regeneration Framework and Investment Plan sets out development and investment priorities for the City’s future economic growth ahead of new planning and regeneration powers under Local Government Reform in 2015. Speaking at Belfast City Councils City Centre Regeneration Framework and Investment conference the First Minister Peter Robinson said: “I very much welcome these plans which set out a bold vision for Belfast City Centre as a dynamic, enterprising and connected city that can compete in the global arena. “Belfast is now one of the top-performing and fastest growing cities in the UK. The City Council’s £277 million Investment Programme is a clear indication of its commitment to keeping that momentum going and to drive Belfast forward. As our capital city, Belfast is the heart of the local economy and with output well above the UK average, is already a top performer both locally and nationally.These draft plans will ensure that Northern Ireland’s already well developed reputation as a great place to do live, work and do business will continue to grow and lead to further exciting new jobs and opportunities.” The conference provided the opportunity to agree the key growth opportunities for Belfast, and provided a focus for practitioners to share experience and ideas for Belfast’s future.
