Rocket stages are usually not recovered after launch, as most - TopicsExpress

Rocket stages are usually not recovered after launch, as most break up and sink due to the stresses of oceanic impact. However, the first stage of the Titan II launch vehicle for the Gemini 5 mission was partially recovered after managing to survive impact. The stage likely broke in two upon hitting the surface, with the upper portion remaining buoyant enough to float. The fragment was brought to shore and inspected by NASA. After inspection, the piece sat in the rocket garden of the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
