Rockets defeat Suns 122-108. Houston goes to 33-17 while Phoenix falls to 29-20. A high scoring game as it was 66-63 in favor of the Rockets at the break. Houston led by five 95-90 going into the fourth quarter. It was game of runs but the Rockets led most of the way. Suns did had a brief six point lead early in the second quarter. Rockets even the season series with Phoenix at 1-1 splitting the two meetings at Toyota Center after the Suns won the first meeting on December 4 by nine. The teams will only meet three times this season with the final meeting in Phoenix on February 23 during Houstons season long five game road trip which will be immediately after the All Star break. Rockets and Suns are fifth and sixth seeds in the Western Conference if the playoffs would have been now. That final matchup in 18 days will determine the season series and the head to head tiebreaker. Rockets are off their best start through 50 games of the regular season since the 1996-1997 season when they were also 33-17. That squad went 57-25 and were the two seed. They lost to the Jazz in the 1997 Western Conference Finals in six games. Suns head coach Jeff Hornasek was apart of that Utah team. Houston was 11-16 from beyond the arc and 33-43 from the free throw line. Dwight Howard led Red Nation with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Rockets have won four in a row overall and seven of their last nine games. They are 21-7 at home this season. Suns with back to back losses after a five game winning streak.
