Rocky Mountain National Park, 265,761 acres of indescribable beauty, shares the blessing and curse that accompanies national park status. It is blessed to be protected from greedy developers who would fill Longs Peaks boulder-field with a top of the world restaurant, it’s north slopes with a gondola and lifts to access it along with the world class ski slopes and Glacier Gorge with luxury condo’s. But it is cursed to be on millions of people radar as a place to go a recreate. I haven’t been to Rocky Mountain Park for a while and still have one 13r in the park I have not yet climbed. That would be the 13,327’ McHenry’s Peak and that was my mission on Saturday, Labor Day weekend.
