Rodong Sinmun Accuses U.S. of Escalating Tensions on Korean Peninsula Pyongyang, August 8 Juche 103 (2014) (KCNA) -- This year, too, the DPRK advanced positive peace proposals and took practical steps for putting them into practice. But the U.S. and south Korean puppet forces staged Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises, joint landing drill largest-ever since 1993 and biggest-ever joint aerial drill. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in an article. It was quite natural that the army and people of the DPRK conducted military drills including tactical rocket firing for self-defence and shelling exercises with different missions to cope with the ever-more undisguised U.S. military moves against it, the article notes, and goes on: The shameless U.S. labeled the DPRKs regular military exercises threat and provocation. Not content with this, it orchestrated again a farce of denouncing them, claming they are a violation of resolutions at the UN Security Council. The U.S. is mulling deploying THAAD in south Korea. It is going to stage again Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises with south Korean puppet forces under the signboard of annual ones in mid-August. All facts go to clearly prove that the U.S. is the arch criminal disturbing the peace and security on the Korean peninsula. The U.S. steadily escalating nuclear threat and blackmail would compel the DPRK to put great spurs to bolstering up its nuclear deterrence for self-defence. As long as the U.S. and south Korean puppet forces persist in their joint military exercises for aggression against the DPRK, its counter-actions will be put on an annual and regular basis. -0-
