Roma reportedly make £6.9 million bid for Gervinho Serie A side Roma are reported to have made a bid for Arsenal forward Gervinho. The fee is around £7M, but has yet to be accepted by the Gunners who are holding out for more, Daily mailreported. Gervinho, 26, didn’t fly with the Arsenal squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, which the club had said was due to sickness although this conveniently allowed the player to stay behind to hold talks with his principal suitors..Roma manager Rudi Garcia has long-admired the Arsenal forward, and managed him during his time at Lille. Marseille have also declared their interest in taking the Ivory Coast international on a season-long loan but Arsenal would prefer a sale.Lyon are also interested but are hopeful of convincing Arsenal to take a chance on Yoann Gourcuff as they look to secure the services of Gunners forward Gervinho in a player exchange deal, reports suggest. When Gervinho signed for Arsenal in 2011, he was expected to become one of the best forwards in the Premier League. Fast-forward to 2013, he is far from the best. The Ivorian is labelled a flop who is inconsistent, his infuriating decisions on the pitch have led to criticism from the fans. Though partially justified, as Gervinho has shown his mesmerising talents in some matches but has failed to repeat this regularly enough for Arsenal. As observed, he is fast becoming a liability for the Gunners. The 26-year-old forward struggled to get onto the pitch last season, only making12 starts with just six more appearances as a substitute. In league play, he only scored five goals with three assists. After totaling 14 goals with 10 assists for Lille in Ligue 1 two years ago, Gervinho’s production for Arsenal has been relatively disappointing. It is clear that Gervinho’s role on Arsenal is not what he would want it to be. He playedin less than half of the club’s Premier League matches and has not proven himself enough to believe he will play any more next season. With the rumoured influx of star players like Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez, Gervinho is likely to be off-loaded this summer with many clubs interested. Arsenal know that Gervinho isnot part of the future and he is barely part of the present. With the player now indicating that he wants to find a new home, the club should do what it takes to complete a transfer and sell the player as soon as possible. What do you say Gooners?
