Ron Paul won the Values Voters Summit straw poll in 2011; so how did his son Rand fare this weekend? Rand Paul tried to make a case for how his libertarian ideals would mesh with their religious fervor. But his reception to (sic) the faithful was tepid. So whats changed? In my opinion, its not so much substantive policy differences as it is the rare genuineness and candor that Ron Paul displayed (and still displays) when speaking; by contrast, Rand seems more calculating, more contrived -- and thats intuitively sensed by the listener. I say this more as praise to the father than criticism of the son, and it remains my hope that the latter gains traction in his 2016 bid.
