Rosemount High School has both a male and female athlete that have been selected as finalists for the St. Paul Downtown Lions Club amateur athletes of the year award! For nearly three decades, the Pioneer Press has been a partner in the selection process with the St. Paul Downtown Lions Club in honoring a top male and female high school student-athlete. From 1943 through 1984, a single winner was selected for the prestigious award. Since 1988, male and female winners have been selected. Past winners include Ken Yackel (hockey, 1953), Dave Winfield (baseball, 1973), Paul Molitor (baseball, 1976), Chris Weinke (football, 1989), Alana Blahoski (Olympic hockey, 1998), Joe Mauer (baseball, football, basketball, 2000) and Natalie Darwitz (Olympic hockey, 2002). RHS Athletic department is thrilled to announce that Seniors Hannah Grim and Payton Otterdahl have both been selected as finalists and will be honored on May, 20th at a luncheon at the Prom Center in Oakdale. Hannah will attend Marquette University on a basketball scholarship leaving RHS as the all-time leading scorer in basketball and as a five time state participant in cross country. Payton will attend NDSU on a track and field scholarship and Payton has the distinction of leaving RHS knowing he has gone to state in three sports his junior and senior year! That is amazing! Congratulations to both Hannah and Payton! Go Irish! Michael J. Manning Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Rosemount High School 651 423-7507 [email protected]
