Rt 47 road work update from United City of Yorkville IDOT Update for July/August IL 47 Paving the southbound lanes of Il 47, from Washington St to Il 71 will take place the week of July 28. Once this is completed, the paving equipment will then be mobilized to the north side of the Fox River, where paving will continue in the northbound direction, from the river bridge to approximately through Somonauk St. The movement of the paving equipment across the river bridge will take place following paving on the south portion of the project and will be done at night so impacts to traffic are minimized. The contractor will construct curb and gutter and the middle lane of pavement, south of the river, the week of August 4. Curb and gutter work, north of the river, will also take place around that time adjacent to the newly placed pavement. Around August 25, a traffic switch is anticipated to take place, which will move all traffic to the east side of Il 47, from approximately Fox St to north of US 34. This movement of traffic will allow underground work to continue, north of the river, along the west side of Il 47. Prior to the traffic switch, work will also be taking place at several side streets, north of the river, which will require their closure. A detour will be in effect for the Somonauk St. closure. Also prior to the traffic switch, some temporary resurfacing will be done at the US 34 intersection. This work will also take place at night to minimize traffic disruption. It is anticipated this work should be done in a night or two. Additionally, sidewalk work on the east side of Il 47, from Hydraulic St to Van Emmon St will also be done before switching traffic. Electrical work currently being done consists of installing underground cables. Work at various intersections to install foundations for the new traffic signals is anticipated to start around the beginning of August. The contractor plans to begin at Van Emmon St and work toward the south. Once all of those foundations are installed, sidewalk work, south of the river, can take place. It is anticipated the majority of the work, south of the river, will be substantially complete by the end of the year.
