Rudd has just announced devastating and inhumane measures against refugees, meaning that any refugee that arrives in Australia by boat, will be moved to PNG and will not be able to resettle in Australia. We need to reiterate that seeking asylum by boat is not a crime, and people have a human right to seek asylum and be resettled in Australia. People are fleeing war-torn countries and political persecution and refugees deserve protection. This sudden and cruel announcement should be met with loud opposition. Join RAC at the State Library at 12 noon Saturday to demand Rudd reverse this punitive attack on refugees and demand that refugees are treated with human rights, which extends to not being detained in detention centres!
