Rune of the 1st Aett called Gebo in the Elder Futhark, and Gyfu in - TopicsExpress

Rune of the 1st Aett called Gebo in the Elder Futhark, and Gyfu in the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. The Younger, and Armanen systems do not have this Rune. The meaning of this Rune is absorbed, as we will see in future episodes, in the Rune Tyr and as we go through this episode it will also become obvious. This Rune is the symbol of the “gift for a gift” principle upon which the very tribal concept of “Frith” and one’s relationship with the earth, gods/desses, spirits of the land and the ancestors themselves (as well as relationships between living kin) is based. In both systems the Rune looks like a big X and represents the gifts or sacrifice of man to the higher powers, and by this I am being all-inclusive of the intelligences I described earlier, and their gift in return back to mankind. In the Havamal it states that “a gift always demands gain” and that is the nature of the multi-verse as things must remain balanced in order for life to continue. In the past, among our ancestors, the sacrifice given to the gods or to the other holy powers varied and even included animal and human sacrifice – – usually with the two latter being hung on a tree, the symbolism of course being obvious. Today we do not engage in that extreme and I certainly don’t recommend it to anyone for obvious reasons! What sacrifice does mean however is the giving up or the “gifting” of something that is of value to you as a person. The response of the multi-verse and of all of the holy powers is then their gift to you in response to that sacrifice. In other words, when you gifts to the gods or to any of the other holy powers our ancestors, you don’t give something that costs you nothing or that you do not even like! The whole thought behind it is that you are giving something of value of yourself, something that is worthwhile and that means something to you. Giving something that means nothing to you is no sacrifice at all and is an insult to the gods and to all of the holy powers! This can cover a multitude of different possibilities, from (if you are using runes and magical practice) blooding the runes with your own life force, or perhaps swearing an oath to perform a certain act or deed and then following through with it – – it is not what the sacrifice itself is, it is that you are doing something or giving something that is meaningful to you as a person. In later episodes, after we have covered all of the Runes themselves individually we will talk about what they call “Bind Runes” and how one whether in the Bind Rune form or in the individual Rune form can carve, stain, call, send, put to sleep these powers – – basically the answers to all of the questions asked at the end of the Runic Quest of Odin recorded in the Havamal. In the meantime, one must learn the Runes themselves both in their individual and collective energy, as well as get a good and firm understanding of the mythologies which are the context in which the Runes can be understood in the personal soul complex. This, combined with dedicated practices such as what is shown to you in the meditational series that we have in our premium broadcasts, will help you a great deal in your connection to the Runic energies as well as your effectiveness and success in working with these energies. We take a “holistic” approach here because the worker of the Runes and their development is just as important as understanding the Runes themselves!
