Runners are heading to the barriers for the Group 3 Lexus Stakes over 2500 metres. Its a last chance for a number of these runners to make the Melbourne Cup, with the winner gaining an automatic entry into the great race. The favourite is Mike Moroney-trained Araldo, but is an easing favourite, despite his last win at the track and distance in The Bart Cummings, albeit by protest. Last years winner Kelinni is being backed heavily to win this again and take his place in the Cup field, with only the top weight Ethiopia guaranteed a start. Lets Make Adeal and Bass Strait also under double figures, while Ruscello will be better than he was last start. I am leaning towards Araldo with Glen Boss aboard, but also tempted to have some change on My Quest For Peace each way. For those who remember, I actually tipped him to win the Cup last year, and perhaps getting a decent distance.
