Running On Empty My darling wife, from the passenger side, - TopicsExpress

Running On Empty My darling wife, from the passenger side, seems to travel with me with one eye on the road and the other glancing at the fuel gauge. When it would get to a quarter of a tank, she would remind me that we didnt want to run out of gas. We never did run out. However, we drove dangerously close to the empty mark a few times. Driving into the station, we made it on fumes and prayer. Under great stress, we made it, running on empty. Running on empty not only applies to autos and gas, but to many of Gods people going through the motions of serving the Lord. You hear people say, I just cant seem to get them to go to church with me. It is true that a lot of people do not want to go to church. Until the Spirit of God works in the heart of the person, they will have no desire to serve the Lord. Church attendance, tithing, singing, teaching, and all the other things that Christians ought to do will cause one to run on empty unless the heart is being filled with the Word of God. Churches will have folks each day that are just going through the motions. They are there in body but their life is running on empty. Prayer and personal time in the Word are not appealing. Many folks waste their life with religious activity, when the Lord has promised us we can have abundant life. Maybe you can take a minute and think about verse 10. Running on empty is a drag. Living an abundant life is a delight. ~ devotional by Pastor Wallace Strawn of Ocala FL as published in Call To Glory for January 2015 Drawn from John 10: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the Door of the sheep. All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good Shepherd: the good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep.
