Runny Paint, one of the NE Scotland bottlenose dolphins, has returned to North Berwick! She was photographed off the Bass Rock by Peter Dollive on a Scottish Seabird Centre trip on Sunday. This mature female last visited close to our town in 2008. This time she had her calf Paint Splotch with her. Barbara Cheney, from the Lighthouse Field Station, University of Aberdeen, also identified three other mothers in the photos: Pilot, Pizza and Chips. They were last seen heading up the Forth toward Edinburgh! I took my run today all along the beaches along the coast hoping to see them in the flat calm waters. Maybe tomorrow...
