Rush Health Systems Warns of Phone Scam According to Rush Health Systems, a scam that has recently come to the Meridian area has already been associated with other hospitals around the country. Those attempting the scam target elderly patients, claim they are with a local medical center (in this case, Rush Foundation Hospital or Laird Hospital), and inquire about calling a toll free number, 1-866-536-2405, requesting personal information such as date of birth, social security number, credit card number and PIN numbers and/or they request prescription numbers or information related to payment of a bill. That number is a red flag. Of course, the call could come from another number in the future. Given the nature of the scam, a phone call, this could happen anywhere. Rush Health System does not make calls of this kind asking for personal information. The safest approach to take if someone calls and asks for personal information is to hang up; our representatives will always provide you with proper identification and a number you can call back to verify the call should they call you regarding bill collection. You may choose to contact your local law enforcement authority if you are contacted. Rush has contacted the Mississippi Attorney Generals office concerning this matter.
