Rush Limbaugh says there is only one person in America who can - TopicsExpress

Rush Limbaugh says there is only one person in America who can speak to any racial issue without getting blow back. He says Charles Barkley can do that. And he says the reaction would be that wed better pay attention. Charles Barkley has weighed in on Ferguson. He was on the radio recently, and he called out the media for jumping to conclusions regarding the situation mainly because the media loves race stories. When he was asked why black America doesnt trust the grand jury ruling, Charles Barkley said the truth came out during the grand jury testimony, with Officer Darren Wilson story being authenticated. He says he couldnt believe anything he heared on television anymore, and thats why hr didnt like to listen to the media who leads people to jump to conclusions. The media shouldnt do that when black people are concerned, he said. I think I like Charles Barkley. Our English classes are studying the concept Evaluating Informational Text, and many of the students have believed what the media presented before the grand jury conclusions. I explained to them the seriousness of what happens during a grand jury, which looks at facts and then determines whether or not a party should be indicted. I also told them how the press is free to say anything, pretty much even if it is a lie, leaving people at their mercy or whether or not what they write is accurate. While I do believe in freedom of the press I also believe in the responsibility of those who read the press to come to conclusions, best they can, what really happened. One cannot respond to informational text unless it is informed with a sufficient number of facts related to the issue at hand. It is interesting to watch how my students struggle through to responsible thought processes on this issue given the high emotional racial issues that are connected to things like Ferguson. In years past it was the same thing regarding Trayvon Martin. Interesting only people wanted to reject the jurys conclusions in declaring George Zimmerman not guilty in the same way that people want to burn down Ferguson Missouri because they believe that the grand jury did not accurately represent what should have been drawn from the facts regarding officer Wilson. Think people! What is the best way to determine facts in a country like ours unless it is a jury of ones peers, first in a grand jury to decide what should go to trial, and then in the determinations a jury that looks at the facts presented by an adversarial pair of attorneys who charge it is to make sure that nothing pro or con of significance is left out? People make decisions way in advance of personal responsibility to check fax the details as best as they are available. This is true in use, in religion, in interpersonal relationships. Nothing should be closed for for investigation by anyone who comes to a situation new and uninformed. An examination of the truth is the responsibility of every thinking individual. It is also the right of anyone who wants to know the truth of a matter. Lunch time is at an end. Time to get back to class!
