Russel Simmons: “Marijuana Is Less Harmful Than Tylenol By HempForFuture on April 1, 2014 One of the biggest alternative treatments that’s used today to treat cancer is cannabis. Why cannabis is still not an approved and recognized form of cancer treatment remains a mystery to many, especially since the anti-tumor effects of cannabinoids and THC have been demonstrated time and time again since the 1980′s. When scientists discovered cannabinoid receptors in the human brain, it became obvious that our body has to synthesize something that binds to these receptors. Our bodies produce these compounds in our own endocannabinoid system, which is now known to be responsible for a number of biological functions. This is why the plant has such a wide therapeutic potential for multiple diseases, including cancer. Russell Simmons may not smoke marijuana (anymore, at least), but the Def Jam founder and Hip Hop mogul knows what’s up when it comes to cannabis reform. Recently appearing on the Arsenio Hall Show, Simmons offered his unwavering support to end the Drug War and made comments supporting legalization. Clearly, Simmons–a member of the Marijuana Majority and outspoken against the Drug War–is a member of Team Green. We applaud him for his candid comments and for speaking the outright truth.
