*Ryans Gender Problem* In an audacious piece of male rights activism and female bullying, male director, Steven Spielbergs, Saving Private Ryan conspicuously shows how the storming of Omaha Beach was a male-dominated endeavor, obviously neglecting the role that women played in the war effort here and abroad. Its insistent use of violence (a male endeavor) and warfare (yet another male endeavor) bookends this misogynistic tale of geopolitical greed and lust for power. To make matters worse, its a man they save at the end. Can this get any worse? Its yet another ploy by our male oppressors to censor and subjugate the crucial role women played in this very real and historical event.
