S.O.A.P. for 9/20/2013 “Being the Best in Representing God” Scripture: Daniel 6:1 It pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom, 2 with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss. 3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 4 At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5 Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.” Observation: Daniel so distinguished himself by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. Obviously, a lot of this was God’s gifting and talents that God gave Daniel…especially being able to interpret dreams. But Daniel, was excellent in all that he did…and it did cause a jealousy between him and other administrators and satraps… because now they had to play “second fiddle”! It is interesting to note that a similar jealousy was also seen between the Pharisees and the teachers of the law and was one of the causes why Jesus was crucified on the cross. But it’s the last line of this section that catches my attention: “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.” Application: Can that statement be said about you or me? Can we live a life and demonstrate such behavior that the world around us can find nothing to condemn us unless it has something to do with the law of our God. I desire to be truly an ambassador for Christ. How about you? Even though it caused offense by some (Administrators and Satraps), the King was more than impressed by Daniel and his abilities to reflect a way about him that showed off his God. I believe it’s time for the church to rise up and become the people of God that He has designed us to be. Many people in the world have seen the hypocrisy in the church. It’s one of the reasons that they use for not wanting to come to church. It’s time to stand to make a positive difference for God and to reflect His love and His glory! Prayer: Father God, I know that we all have been given different talents and abilities…and there is only so much we can do with who we are and what we have been made to be. Father God, help us be examples of your very nature so that “world” would see Jesus in us…In His name! AMEN
