SALUTATION AND TRIBUTE TO A FALLEN SOLDIER Today a dark cloud descend upon WE the Sierra Leonean people, when our hopes became shattered by the death of a fallen soldier our own Dr Martin Salia, who shone the comfort and opulence that his surrogate sojourn in the USA could provide for him and his family, instead chose to follow the path of a selfless and committed soldier to return and give back to that land that bind every Sierra Leonean to that shore which was once the Athens of West Africa. Dr Martin Salia answered the call to serve his people not from the vantage point of political dogma neither was his decision to uproot himself and his family from their settled and comfortable home, came from the calling of mere mortal. His was a calling set in the principality of a higher calling and an inner spiritualism of selflessness human sacrifice to make a difference to the lives of his fellow men and women in that place WE all call home. As our hearts and soul deeply troubled and sadden that we lost you so early and at the tender age of 44, we also hold up our hands in gratitude and everlasting indebtedness for the time and energy you selflessly gave to WE your people. Words can not express our sorrow but I will dedicate this words below to you OUR Fallen Soldier. Dr Salia was like the gentle breeze which blows from the East to the West. From the North to South, but underneath lay a raging wind which gathers every chaffs in it way on that beautiful spirit of human compassion and selflessness. By your humility and commitment to your people, you our fallen soldier gain an entire Nation of Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters Children who are grieving. Yes our fallen soldier, you came, you saw, and you gave the ultimate sacrifice to serve. So WE the Sierra Leonean nation who are your family who moan your departure from the living world acknowledge the God you so faithfully served as arbitrator of life and death will has be done. We the Sierra Leonean people knows that although you are out of sight, you will never be out of our minds So as the sun set to end this sad day, we the Sierra Leonean people will reflect on your life and what that life teach and mean to us and as the dawn of the morning dew rises to mark yet the begin of another day, we the Sierra Leonean people will begin to remember you Sleep well our fallen soldier, you have played your path and we the Sierra Leonean people assured you that we will continue the struggle to make that difference in the rebirth of that beautiful Athens of West African. I kindly ask that the Forum take time out from our day to day interaction for today and tomorrow to reflect and affirm our gratitude to our fallen soldier Dr Martin Salia and his immediate. family
