SALVATION Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Life Application Study Bible Notes NIV : Have you ever been asked, How do I become a Christian? These verses give you the beautiful answer -- salvation is as close as your own mouth and heart. People think it must be a complicated process, but it is not. If we believe in our hearts and say with our mouths that Christ is the risen Lord, we will be saved. Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe the he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Life Application Study Bible Notes NIV : Believing that God exists is only the beginning; even the demons believe that much (James 2:19, 20). God will not settle for mere acknowledgment of his existence. He wants a personal, dynamic relationship with you that will transform your life. Those who seek God will find that they are rewarded with his intimate presence. Sometimes we wonder about the fate of those who havent heard of Christ and have not even had a Bible to read. God assures us that all who honestly seek him -- who act in faith on the knowledge of God that they possess -- will be rewarded. When you tell others the gospel, encourage them to be honest and diligent in their search for truth. Those who hear the gospel are responsible for what they have heard (see 2 Corinthians 6:1,2). A Prayer of Salvation Heavenly Father, I believe you love me. I am truly sorry and repent for my sins of the past. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord and Savior of my life and receive the forgiveness of all my sins. Jesus, come into my life and be the ruler of my heart from this day forward. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen. Results of Salvation: not condemned..... John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of Gods one and only Son. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : People often try to protect themselves from their fears by putting their faith in something they do or have; good deeds, skill or intelligence, money or possessions. But only God can save us from the one thing that we really need to fear -- eternal condemnation. We believe in God by recognizing the insufficiency of our own efforts to find salvation and by asking him to do his work in us. When Jesus talks about unbelievers, he means those who reject or ignore him completely, not those who have momentary doubts. hath everlasting life..... John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for Gods wrath remains on him. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : Jesus says that those who believe in him have (not will have) everlasting life. To receive eternal life is to join in Gods life, which by nature is eternal. Thus, eternal life begins at the moment of spiritual rebirth. John, the author of this Gospel, has been demonstrating that Jesus is the true Son of God. Jesus sets before us the greatest choice in life. We are responsible to decide today whom we will obey (Joshua 24:15), and God wants us to choose him and life (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). The wrath of God is Gods final judgment and rejection of the sinner. To put off the choice is to choose not to follow Christ. Indecision is a fatal decision. he is a new creature..... 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Life Application Bible Notes NIV : God brings us back to himself (reconciles us) by blotting out our sins (see also Ephesians 2:13-18) and making us righteous. We are no longer Gods enemies, or strangers or foreigners to him, when we trust in Christ. Because we have been reconciled to God, we have the privilege of encouraging others to do the same, and thus we are those who have the ministry of reconciliation. the children of God..... Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : We are no longer cringing and fearul slaves, instead, we are the Masters children. What a privilege! Because we are Gods children, we share in great treasures as co-heirs. God has already given us his best gifts; his Son, forgiveness, and eternal life; and he encourages us to ask him for whatever we need. heirs of God..... Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs -- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : There is a price for being identified with Jesus. Along with the great treasures, Paul mentions the suffering that Christians must face. What kinds of suffering are we to endure? For first century believers, there was economic and social persecution, and some even faced death. We too must pay a price for following Jesus. In many parts of todays world, Christians face pressures just as severe as those faced by Christs first followers. Even in countries where Christianity is tolerated or encouraged, Christians must not become complacent. To live as Jesus did -- serving others, giving up ones own rights, resisting pressures to conform to the world -- always exacts a price. Nothing we suffer, however, can compare to the great price that Jesus paid to save us. peace I give unto you... neither... be afraid..... John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : The end result of the Holy Spirits work in our lives is deep and lasting peace. Unlike worldly peace, which is usually defined as the absence of conflict, this peace is confident assurance in any circumstance; with Christs peace, we have no need to fear the present or the future. If your life is full of stress, allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with Christs peace (see Philippians 4:6-7 for more on experiencing Gods peace). Sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other forces are at war within us. The peace of God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces and offer comfort in place of conflict. Jesus says he will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from him. Sprit of God dwell in you..... Romans 8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : Have you ever worried about whether or not you really are a Christian? A Christian is anyone who has the Spirit of God living in him or her. If you have sincerely trusted Christ for your salvation and acknowledged him as Lord, then the Holy Spirit has come into your life, and you are a Christian. You wont know that the Holy Spirit has come in if you are waiting for a certain feeling; you will know he has come because Jesus promised he would. When the Holy Spirit is working within you, you will believe that Jesus Christ is Gods Son and that eternal life comes through him (1 John 5:5), you will begin to act as Christ directs (Romans 8:5; Galatians 5:22,-23); you will find help in your daily problems and in your praying (Romans 8:26-27); you will be empowered to serve God and do his will (Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6ff); and you will become part of Gods plan to build up his church (Ephesians 4:12-13). names are in the book of life..... Philippians 4:3 Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. Life Application Bible Notes NIV : Those whose names are in the book of life are all who are marked for salvation through their faith in Christ ( see also Luke `9:`7-20, Revelation 20:11-15).
