SAMAJ KO BADAL DALO My Dear Mera Desh Premiyo, “We spin the thread of Thought into our destiny and find ourselves with a character bent to all noble and useful ends. As we have thought, we have become. Thoughts makes Character,” wrote Annie Besant in her book “The Riddle of Life.” “Diwali” is heralded as the triumph of good over evil. It is also a spiritual occasion for reaffirmation of hope for the future, a renewed commitment to friendship and a rekindle of goodwill towards fellow human. With such a sentiment during Diwali/Deepavali festivals, well-wishers hailing from another faith cannot help but enlighten his dear friends about the words of wisdom of Annie Beasant as follows: “India is a country in which every great religion finds a home.” “Among the priceless teachings that may be found in the great Indian epic Mahabharata, there is none so rare and priceless as the Gita.” “India is the mother of religion. In her are combined science and religion in perfect harmony, and that is the Hindu religion, and it is India that shall be again the spiritual mother of the world.” “After a study of some forty years and more of the great religions of the world, I find none so perfect , none so scientific, none so philosophical and none so spiritual than the great religion known by the name of Hinduism. Make no mistake, without Hinduism, India has no future. Hinduism is the soil in to which India’s roots are stuck and torn out of that she will inevitably wither as a tree torn out from its place. And if Hindus do not maintain Hinduism who shall save it? If India’s own children do not cling to her faith who shall guard it. India alone can save India and India and Hinduism are one. “ In his book, “Treasury of Thoughts,” Dr. Dagobert D. Runes penned one of his own thoughts, “Every nation speaks a different language. Indeed every person does. This is a great era of motivated thinking and we can almost predict what a man will say once we know to which group he belongs or where his motives lie.” Fortunately, India is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose “Inspirational Speeches,” have thus far energized and motivated many young “Desh Premees” to feel proud of India and its timeless religion of Hinduism. As a firm believer in “Competing in Compassion,” and to “Vie with one another in doing Good Works,” I, as a Muslim, will heartily endorse any noble action by Prime Minister Modi Ji towards setting the highest benchmarks of good governance using the slogan, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” “Together we will script a glorious future for India. Let us together dream of a strong, developed and inclusive India that actively engages with the global community to strengthen the cause of world peace and development,” was the beginning sentence of an inaugural speech delivered by Prime Minister Modi Ji. Such a glorious thought, can only be achieved by ways of “The Three Threads of the Cord of Fate,” as emphasized by Annie Besant. The three powers of human consciousness are, the “Power to Will,” the “Power to Think,” and the “Power to Act.” These are the essential human elements which spin the threads of human destiny, as opined by Ms. Besant. She added that such consciousness is within the man, not outside him. Mere Desh Premiyo, it has been said that, “Character is never erected on a neglected conscience.” In order to understand the near perfect meaning of this sentence, one must carefully and attentively make a note of a stark reality of the modern day attitude of “Indifference” which was conveyed by Prime Minister Modi Ji, during his Independence Day speech, “’Mera kya aur mujhe kya’ ess dairey se hume bahar aana hai, har cheez apne liye nahin hoti hai, kuch cheeze desh ke liye bhi huwa karti hai.” Isn’t that the truth? “Intellectual Courage” as well as “Spiritual Intelligence” must be the two main motivating factors to enable humans to awaken the spirit of compassion and sacrifice. Merely shrugging off and staying aloof is not the answer to the present day riddle of life which has by and large become more “Self-Centered.” In the chapter, “The Riddle of Love and Hate,” Annie Besant eloquently described the concept of “Spiritual Intelligence” as follows: “We are protected, helped and taught by spiritual Intelligences who were men in worlds older than our own, as well as by the most highly evolved men of our own humanity; we shall repay the debt by protecting, helping and teaching human races in the worlds that are now in the early stages of their growth, preparing to become, untold ages hence, the homes of future men. If we find around us many who are ignorant, stupid and even brutal, limited in both mental and moral powers, it is because they are younger men than we are, younger brothers, and hence their errors should be met with love and helpfulness instead of with bitterness and hatred. As they are, so were we in the past; as we are, so shall they be in the future; and both they and we shall go onward and onward through the everlasting ages.” Riddle One of the most highly evolved great men of India was none other than Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. in his book, “At the feet of Mahatma Gandhi,” Dr. Rajendra Prasad, former President of India, asked his fellow “Desh Premees,” “Have we the country’s good at heart or only our own selfish ends? Are we ennobling our own life or degrading it? Are we ready to be weighed in Gandhiji’s scale of values? Are we prepared to allow others to follow their own religion, or are we trying, secretly or openly, to compel them to act in accordance with our own wishes?” Here again, Prime Minister Modi Ji’s used his “Intellectual Courage,” to deliver another moving speech about the great Mahatma which must be taken to heart. . Emerson’s inspiring words comes to mind, “This time like all others, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.” With the humble “Son of India – Kailash Satyarthi” now joining the league of “Planetary Citizens” by winning the Nobel Peace Prize award, I feel obliged to share an excerpt from a speech given by one great Nobel Laureate, William Faulkner as follows: “I decline to accept the end of man. It is easy enough to say that man is immortal simply because he will endure: that when the last dingdong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. I refuse to accept this. I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. The poet’s, the writer’s, duty is to write about these things. It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past. The poet’s voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail.” “A desire stimulates a thought, a thought embodies itself in an act. Sometimes it is a thought, in the form of a memory, that arouses a desire, and the desire burst into an act,” wrote Annie Beasant. Pondering over my thoughts and appreciating William Faulkner’s worldly wise advice about the poet’s voices can help man endure by lifting his hearts, therefore, I, earnestly request “Mere Desh Premiyo,” to reflect upon “People’s Poet of India,” Sahir Ludhianvi’s lyrics, listen to the celestial voice of “People’s Singer of India,” Mohammed Rafi, and above all, hear the melodious music of “People’s Musician of India,“ Ravi Shankar Sharma, which can be summed up in one powerful sentence, “SAMAJ KO BADAL DALO.” All in all, I, Mohammed Rafiq Lodhia, will be sincerely praying for the success of Prime Minister Modi Ji, in his dedicated mission of “Bharat Vikas.“ More importantly, while celebrating the New Year, we should all solemnly pledge to give him our wholehearted support and be at the service of “Mother India.” with whatever capacity we may possess. Simply put, our power of Thoughts should be filled with an enthusiastic spirit of, “Aaj Hai Yahi To Aisa Aaj Ko Badal Dalo.” Senkado ki mehnato par ek kyun pale Unch nich se bhara najam kyun chale Aaj hai yahi to aise aaj ko badal dalo Samaj ko badal dalo Julm aur lut ke rivaj ko badal dalo Samaj ko badal dalo. “The Lodhia Family” wishes you and your beloved family members a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year filled with lots of sunshine and full of happiness. Jai Hind. Compassionately yours, Mohammed Rafiq Lodhia Permalink. rafiqlodhia.wordpress youtube/watch?v=hQH9CdBu_ew#t=126
