SANDY NEEDS YOUR HELP! EMERGENCY!!! URGENT!!!!! PLEASE READ AND SHARE AND DONATE IF YOU CAN! Around March, 2014 Sandy was surrendered to the high kill shelter in Malvern, Arkansas. Sandy’s owner had never allowed her to leave the house. She had never felt grass beneath her paws, never had any socialization with other dogs, and had minimal “people” interaction. Sandy was so scared at the shelter that she was non-responsive and was thought to be sick or near death. It was crucial that Stop Animal Cruelty rescue her immediately from the shelter. But Sandy’s journey to recovery was just beginning. After being vet cleared, and confirmed Sandy’s behavior was due not to medical need, but to her immense need for love and, most of all, to re-learn exactly what it means to be a dog, a best friend, and a part of a family. Sandy was placed with Renee, a dedicated SAC foster who was in training to be dog behavior specialist. Renee and Sandy have been working together for 6 months. At first Sandy was not making much progress, but this just motivated Renee to commit to Sandy and eventually, Renee’s dedication and Sandy’s perseverance PAID OFF! As of the start of this month, Sandy’s ability to trust in Renee has grown to the point that Sandy was doing all sorts of amazing things that so many other dogs normally get to do! She could now even walk down a busy street on a leash as long as Renee was by her side! Sandy’s smiles and reports of progress continued to remind SAC members as to why we do what we do. And Sandy had come so far! And then, on Sept. 13th Sandy became listless and unresponsive! An emergency vet visit was authorized at a Little Rock Vet near to Sandy’s foster home. How could this happen? Sandy had worked so hard, and now she seemed so close to death! Sandy’s results came back: total ear blockage in both ears, an infection had spread. Sandy needed an ear canal ablation. But this procedure can only be done by vets that specialize in this field. We would love to tell you that Sandy has had the procedure and we now just need help recouping the cost. But that is far from the truth…The lowest cost our group has located is $1,000 PER EAR. And Sandy needs both ears operated on. $2,000. The specialist will not even begin the procedure until SAC has paid an initial $1,500. SANDY NEEDS THIS PROCEDURE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Please, please help us help Sandy. We do not have anywhere near this available in funds. Currently, SAC has a waitlist of TEN other foster dogs awaiting heart worm treatment that has been on hold, just so that the available funds have been used for the triage cases. SAC does everything we can to not leave any animal behind. Sandy needs this procedure. The other fosters, need heart worm treatment or can’t move on to most rescues or aren’t favorably looked upon by adopters (heart worm treatment is $250-$300 depending on weight of dog). $2,000. $300 X 10 = $3000 $5,000. That is what we are asking you to help us raise. We do not ask because we aren’t already doing as many fundraiser events as possible, but because without this procedure Sandy will die. Without heartworm treatment, these dogs are in foster land limbo. If you frequent our page, you are probably aware of how many dogs/cats SAC rescues on a weekly basis. Morally taking the no animal left behind route is EASY for most rescuers…financially, it is drowning us. But that does not mean we intend to stop! We will find a way, we MUST find a way! Please Stop Animal Cruelty has a donation button on our facebook page (it is the one with the star on it that says donate underneath or use this link here: https://facebook/pages/Stop-Animal-Cruelty-in-Hot-Spring-County-Arkansas/146404752114292?sk=app_117708921611213 This will take you right to paypal where you can make your donation; you can print off the receipt from pay pal to use for your taxes. We really need your help to make this happen, but most importantly, the animals need your help. And always, thank you for all you do for SAC, other rescues, and most importantly all the animals that have needed you. Sincerely, Mary Ann Taft, President elect of Stop Animal Cruelty in Hot Springs/Garland County
