SANIBONANI GOOD DAY OUT THERE; JESUS LOVED MARTHA AND HER SISTER - TopicsExpress

SANIBONANI GOOD DAY OUT THERE; JESUS LOVED MARTHA AND HER SISTER MARY AND LAZARUS…. Lazarus died and was raised from the dead according to John 11… After this Jesus went to their home and had dinner. Martha served and MARY TOOK HALF A LITRE OF VERY EXPENSIVE PERFUME AND POURED IT ON JESUS’S FEET AND WIPED THEM with her hair. Devious Judas Iscariot felt this was a waste and the money could be used for the ‘poor’. But once the money was in his hands he would embezzle it. Tenders are given to people to build housing for the poor and they cut corners and the houses are of poor quality. TENDERS ARE GIVEN TO DEVELOPERS to build shopping malls and they produce shoddy work to make extra money, the building collapses, people die and many are injured. There are too many in our societies who live in the Judas tradition of selfishness and greed. MARY SHOWS THE WAY. Some actions are worth more than money. For the sweet perfume filled the house. THE AROMA FILLED THE HOUSE… MARY SHOWS DEEPER DEVOTION TO THE QUALITIES OF LIFE. This becomes a powerful image of how we as Christ’s followers must become the aroma of goodness; mercy; love; fairness; grace; kindness in every corner of the cosmos. In other words where will you be today? At work? School? Home? What aroma will emanate from you to others? Let us remember on this Thursday In Black, the positive contribution that women make in our daily lives – the workplace; the home; in politics; in leadership.(Inspired by: “The women around Jesus” Elizabeth Moltmann-Wendel, p51ff.
