SATURDAY BEGINNERS GROUP: Right chaps & chapettes....Saturday is fast approaching. Well be on the trails at 06h00, but well tell Carolyn Ten-Bokum that were starting at 05h00, and she may make it on time. Well plot a route that passes the trail head (or close to the trail head) pretty often so that those doing the Intaba Ridge race on Sunday dont have to carry too many kms in the legs, into that event. Anyone considering starting riding, anyone whos been off their bikes for a while and/or anyone who just wants to take in some awesome trails, and North Coast fresh air, please feel free to join us. Just ask at the desk when picking up your permit and who ever is there will point us out (although youll probably hear us before that!!!) We keep the rides under 20kms (before passing the trail head where anyone can bail), and only ride as fast as the slowest rider (usually me!!) Dont be intimidated, or nervous, come and join us. Another point that has been discussed recently is a beginners bike maintenance course/demonstration. This will be lead by Les Warr (a well respected bike mechanic in the area) and would take place after the Saturday Beginners Group ride. Les will cover things like puncture repair, chain repair, adjusting brakes, adjusting derailleur cables, basic bike cleaning/lubricating etc (if you have any suggestions for further topics, please speak to Cam, Les or me). This is a twofold initiative. It will make you more confident out on the trails, knowing you can fix most issues that occur on the trails, and result in your safety on the trails. Costs for this course/demo will be published soon. I guess we could also twist someones arm to donate some spot prizes like caps and a Holla Trails, branded, moisture wick training shirt, for one lucky participant. Just need to find someone whose arm we can twist......... See you on the trails!!!!!!
