SCAM ALERT! I NEARLY GOT CAUGHT! I had 3 phone calls from TELSTRA (supposedly) telling me that i had some maleware and viruses that were clogging up Telstras main system and it needed to be rectified or my internet will be shut down. Intuitively i felt something wasnt right, they were indian accent or similar and i could hear all voices and calls inthe background, but i followed their prompts to begin to clean up my computer. When i got to a box saying that i give remote control of my computer to them, i said i dont feel comfortable about giving up my computer to you so sorry i wont do it so he said he can put me onto his supervisor and i said yes please but there was no professional transfer, just him handing the phone to someone else!. Despite their calm convincing response, i told them i would phone up Telstra from my end if if it is all legitimate then i will call them back, and they left their number. I didnt do anything about it because i just felt it was a scam but i got another the next day and again i said i feel its a scam. They even told me my computer number and yet i still wouldnt give them time. On Monday i got another call (3)! so this time i hung up, phoned up my Telstra and sure enough it was a scam. Telstra told me that my internet would never be shut down because of maleware. Anyway i wanted to bring this to eveyones attention. I nearly believed them and if my intuition hadnt kicked in, they may have got control and installed something without my knowledge. Be attentive and take care when receiving calls such as this
