SCHOOL BOARD, CASB SEEK PUBLIC INPUT Superintendent search to include public forum, questions from community In pursuit of insight and information regarding the Pueblo City Schools’ superintendent search, the Board of Education has invited the public to take part in the process. On Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Arapahoe Room of the Administrative Services Center, a public forum will be held. Finalist candidates for the superintendent position will be asked to attend this event and answer questions submitted by the public and moderated by a CASB (Colorado Association of School Boards) representative. Pueblo City Schools staff and community members will have the opportunity to submit written questions for the forum. Questions may be submitted as follows: website (pueblocityschools.us), e-mail ([email protected]), delivered to the Administrative Services Center or mailed to the Administrative Services Center (315 W. 11th St., Pueblo, CO 81003). All questions must be received no later than 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014. All questions asked of the finalists will be presented by the CASB representative and not from those in attendance. This is a public forum and not an open forum. Questions submitted by the public will be compiled and scripted by the CASB representative prior to the meeting. Due to time constraints and to balance question content, not all questions submitted will be asked. The public will have the opportunity to observe the responses to questions by each finalist, and may present a list of strengths and concerns relative to each finalist as to their performance after the conclusion of the forum. The Board of Education will have an opportunity to observe the performance of the finalists in the public setting. Public responses will be made available to the board as they deliberate the decision of selecting the superintendent. The public is being afforded the opportunity to observe and respond within the selection process, but cannot expect the Board of Education to relinquish the statutory responsibility of final selection and hiring of the superintendent.
