SEANC is supporting Sen. Tom Apodaca, R-Henderson, as he advocates to keep in place the sunset of a special supplemental fund for the 40 highest paid members of the state pension system. This pot, which was being funded by all state employees, allowed people such former UNC-CH AD Dick Baddour, former New Hanover County ABC Director Billy Williams and former school superintendents, county managers, community college presidents, public housing directors and others to collect more than federal limits. We agree with Sen. Apodaca that special exceptions should not be carved out for and that the pension system must be protected for all members - not just an elite few.
