SECF Inspirational Athlete Eva Gari First, I’m extremely - TopicsExpress

SECF Inspirational Athlete Eva Gari First, I’m extremely humbled and honored to be chosen as an inspirational athlete, considering I’m definitely not the fastest, nor the best. Well, I was raised in Miami, FL since age 15 and I committed myself to the Army on my 21st birthday (June 10, 2010). I am the 101st CAB Supply/Armor in Fort Campbell, KY. I have been married to my husband, Tommy for 2 years and we have two dogs. My idea of fitness prior to Crossfit was…. RUNNING! Yep! It seemed obvious to just run! Run for time, distance, etc. Three years ago, I had suffered some neurological issues which kept me away from running- I was immobile. Running meant (and still means) everything to me. During this time I was unaware of the incredible fitness that Crossfit could bring. I started Crossfit about a year ago as a result of my older sister, Andreina. She is an active Crossfitter at Crossfit Miami. She would constantly talk about PR’s, Fran, pistols, etc. I was dumbfounded in our conversations since I had no CLUE what Fran, thrusters, or snatch was. I quickly learned (and felt!). We stumbled upon Screaming Eagle on May 2013, and immediately signed up for On-Ramp. After my first class, I was instantly hooked and INCREDIBLY sore! SECF has completely changed my outlook on fitness. It has taught me proper nutrition, exercise/conditioning, and overall wellness. I truly enjoy the people that make this gym what it is! I love seeing everyone’s progress from the mom who executes her first hand stand push up, to the elite athlete that obtains a new PR. I am absolutely astonished at how humbling this sport can be! It is all about constant progress. SECF has not only changed me, but assisted me in various ways. The athletes and coaches are not just regular people- they are also my dear friends who have helped me cope with some of life’s shortcomings. They all hold a dear place in my heart. I am eternally grateful for each and every one of you! I completed a 40 mile race in March 2014 and I thank Crossfit for providing me with the proper strength and support! My current fitness goal is to complete an Ironman within the next year. What can I say? I love this endurance type of stuff… and as always, to be an example to my soldiers and be in the best shape of my life!
