SEEK DAILY. Monday, September 1 Jeremiah 22:1-9 ACT WITH JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS This is what the Lord says: “Do what is just and right….” Jeremiah 22:3, NIV Justice and righteousness are an inherent part of God’s nature. When a nation is built on the solid foundations of justice and righteousness, peace, prosperity and progress will thrive there. Where these are lacking, chaos shall be the order of the day. That is why Solomon said, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). In today’s passage, God sent a warning to the kings of Judah (v. 1) to blend justice and righteousness with their leadership responsibilities. This must reflect in their dealings with the poor, the widows, the fatherless, and the strangers. Obedience to this command carries blessings while a sway from it has grievous consequences: “But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become ruined.” (Jeremiah 22:5) In your own capacity, see to it at every point that justice and righteousness prevail in our nation. Do not join others to do evil or take undue advantage of the innocent. More importantly, pray against injustice and unrighteousness in the church and in the society. • Birthday Blessing: “Thou will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11 Read Bible Through Passage: Psalm 132-138; 1 Corinthians 10 Those who the world has reckoned with in the past see growth as essential parts of life and dares to grow. - Richard Udoh
