SEEK DAILY (NBC) Friday, June 28 Ezra 1:1-8 REBUILD A HOUSE FOR GOD The LORD … has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Ezra 1:2, NIV God can use anybody to carry out His will. In today’s text God used Cyrus, a pagan king, as the arrow-head for rebuilding His temple that was destroyed by the Babylonians. This became the most important activity in the world at that time in Jerusalem. Note the following in the passage: (i) The sovereignty of God (vv. 1-2); (ii) the challenge to build (vv. 3, 5); (iii) the sacrifice of the saints (vv. 4-6); (iv) the support of the king (vv. 7-8). Similarly, Christ has given us a command to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel. He is concerned about the salvation of the people He created. We are to be His witnesses in the entire world. We must commit ourselves in obedience to this command. Yes, there is a command to obey, a commitment to be made and also a cost to be paid. Let us begin today, as never before, to do all that it is required of us to build His church. Prayer Point: Use me, O Lord, in Your vineyard.
