SEEKING PERFORMERS & MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR NEW G&S OPERA PREMIERING AT HARROGATE G&S FESTIVAL “The Ladies of Gilbert & Sullivan,” a new opera inspired by the G&S Comic Operas, will celebrate its UK premiere on August 19th as part of the International G&S Festival’s Fringe Programme. We are still seeking four male performers and one female performer to bring this new opera to life. Each singer-actor portrays a founder/original performer of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, and sings iconic roles from all twelve of the full G&S operas in two hours. We are also seeking dedicated chorus members, each to understudy one of the twelve principal roles. In addition, we are seeking a music director. Final casting will be announced in late May. Cast members will be sent the full script/score, as well as the video of the US premiere, to review before the Festival. The UK premiere of “The Ladies of Gilbert & Sullivan” will be an on-book concert version – no costumes/props and very simple staging. We will have morning rehearsals on August 14th and 15th, and one full day of rehearsals on August 18th. The performance will be on August 19th (Harrogate Crown Hotel,10:30am-12:30pm). Performers’ solos and lines are expected to be memorised, while chorus numbers will be fully on-book.
