SELFISH AMBITION--2 The Bible teaches that the source of the conflicts and disputes among believers is often material things. According to the book of James, these conflicts and quarrels are always harmful and results from evil desires constantly battling within us. We want more possessions, more money, higher status, more recognition. When we want badly enough to fulfill these desires, we fight in order to do so (James 4:1-3). Instead of aggressively grabbing what we want or praying for our sinful desires, we should be praying for God’s good will for us. We should submit ourselves to God and humbly ask Him to help us get rid of our selfish desires and then trust Him to give us what we really need (James 4:4-10).
